If you provided past valuation certificates to your insurance company, Cameron & Co would have used this information to estimate current Retail values for your jewellery items as described.
If no valuation certificates were available, you would have discussed your jewellery items with a Cameron & Co consultant. Your descriptions, photos and receipts, together with other information gathered, would have determined a current estimated Retail value for your items.
Some insurance companies collect the excess directly from you. Others ask us to collect the excess. We are always able to show you any instruction from your insurer that asks for the collection of an excess. If you feel there is some error, we are happy to contact your insurer and clarify.
Cameron & Co completes all appraisals within strict time frames. However, there may be delays if your insurer is considering other aspects of your claim. If you wish, we can contact your insurer for a progress report and update you with any information they provide.
If for any reason you are not happy with your selections, please contact our office and discuss your concerns. Provided the jewellery is not worn or damaged, we will do everything possible to rectify your concerns.
Should it be possible, we will always schedule an appointment to visit you at home during office hours.
For those times when you are unable to collect from the showroom, Cameron & Co uses a secure, fully trackable delivery service. We will notify you the day we are sending your items so you know when to expect them. Items may be sent to your home or workplace. If you miss the delivery, a calling card will be left with instructions on how to redeem your parcel.
You won't receive a receipt for jewellery items provided under your claim since you haven't paid for them. However, we can provide a Replacement List detailing the items and their values, matching the value of your claim. If you've purchased additional items beyond your claim, we can issue a receipt for those. Any items valued over $1000 will come with an independent valuation from a registered valuer (NCJV) for re-insurance purposes.
Yes, any items supplied in excess of $1000 Retail will be provided with an independent valuation from a registered valuer (NCJV) that can be used to re-insure your replacement items.
On average, a handmade item set with stones will take approx. 3-4 weeks. Should the item involve more intricate work, or require a special stone to be sourced, it may take longer. More simple items, such as a gold chain, will take approx. 1-2 weeks.
Yes, if you would like to buy additional items, or upgrade your claimed item, Cameron & Co is able to offer you a substantial discount as per our contract with your insurance company.
Claim process

If there are no pre damage valuation details for your jewellery item, we will measure the vacant setting to establish the size of the missing stone. If there are other stones in the ring, we use them to estimate the quality of the missing stone. We may also check for a hallmark and ask you a few questions regarding the purchase of the item to estimate quality.
On average, repairs will take approx. 2-3 weeks. If we need to source a particular stone, or have one especially cut to size then it may take longer. Of course, more intricate and extensively damaged jewellery items may require more time too.
We use a secure delivery method for receiving and returning your jewellery item. Fully trackable and fully insured, it is a very safe and efficient delivery service.

Yes, you can modify the setting of your original ring during the repair process. Cameron & Co offers a complete design service. You would pay the difference between the insurance company’s liability for the repair work and the cost of the changes, with any difference discounted by the rate currently in place with your insurance company.
Yes, the repair work is guaranteed against faulty workmanship or product. Naturally, damage incurred for any other reason is not covered but we are happy to provide you with a competitive quote for any repairs. You maintain the contracted discount rate of your insurance company from the original claim.
If for any reason you are not happy with the repair work, please contact our office and discuss your concerns. An appointment will be scheduled to bring the item to our showroom or we will send you a pre-paid post bag to return the item. We will inspect the item and prioritise any further work required. You may choose to collect from our showroom or have your item returned by secure post.
Yes, we can replace the stones in your antique ring with old cut stones to maintain its integrity. Please note, it may take additional time to source the correct size and quality.

Repairs
Should you require more time, Cameron & Co is able to liaise with your insurance company and provide an Instore Credit Voucher equal to the assessed value of your claim.
Should you wish to stagger your selections, Cameron & Co is able to liaise with your insurance company and provide an Instore Credit Voucher equal to the balance of your approved claim.
No, the In-store Credit Voucher may only be used for the supply of jewellery or watches.
Your insurance company has authorised Cameron & Co to supply jewellery and watches as per our contract agreement.
Your in-store credit voucher is valid for 3 years and can be extended by arrangement.
Yes, provided they have your permission. We understand that insurance policies are often in the name of one household member only and other people are involved in the replacement process.
