Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you assess the damage to my jewellery?
If there are no pre damage valuation details for your jewellery item, we will measure the vacant setting to establish the size of the missing stone. If there are other stones in the ring, we use them to estimate the quality of the missing stone. We may also check for a hallmark and ask you a few questions regarding the purchase of the item to estimate quality.
  • How long will the repairs take?
On average, repairs will take approx. 2-3 weeks. If we need to source a particular stone, or have one especially cut to size then it may take longer. Of course, more intricate and extensively damaged jewellery items may require more time too.
  • How safe is my jewellery when I send it to you?
We use a secure delivery method for receiving and returning your jewellery item. Fully trackable and fully insured, it is a very safe and efficient delivery service.
  • How do you know what size and quality of stone will go with my ring?
If there are no pre damage valuation details available, we measure the vacant setting to establish the size of the stone. Other stones in the ring will indicate the quality of the missing stone. If there are no other stones, we will ask you a few questions regarding the purchase of your ring to gain an indication of quality.
  • Can you make changes to the setting of my original ring?
Yes, should you wish to make changes to your ring during the repair process, Cameron & Co is able to offer a complete design service. You would pay the difference between the insurance company’s liability for the repair work and the cost for the changes. Any difference is discounted by the rate currently in place with your insurance company.
  • Is the repair work guaranteed?
Yes, the repair work is guaranteed against faulty workmanship or product. Naturally, damage incurred for any other reason is not covered but we are happy to provide you with a competitive quote for any repairs. You maintain the contracted discount rate of your insurance company from the original claim.
  • What if I am not happy with the repair work?
If for any reason you are not happy with the repair work, please contact our office and discuss your concerns. An appointment will be scheduled to bring the item to our showroom or we will send you a pre-paid post bag to return the item. We will inspect the item and prioritise any further work required. You may choose to collect from our showroom or have your item returned by secure post.
  • My ring is an antique, can you replace with old cut stones?
Yes, we are able to replace with old cut stones to maintain the integrity of your item. It may, however, take more time as we source for the correct size and quality.
